We Can't Wait for Relief Mobile App Supports Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease

enCappture works with Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation to launch an app that enables IBD patients to find public bathrooms easily

(New York, NY – February 23, 2021) While many of us eagerly await a time when we can freely leave home again, many patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis may remain at home for fear of not having access to a restroom when they urgently need one.

enCappture, a Mobile App Platform, is proud to work with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation to provide the technology platform for the Foundation’s “We Can’t Wait” app.

The app helps patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and others in need of a place to relieve themselves find a nearby restroom location quickly and easily, right on their phone. The app is free and available for download now.

Many of us have experienced the mild inconvenience of needing a public restroom when one wasn’t readily available, but for those with IBD or other chronic illnesses, quick restroom access is a matter of medical necessity. If a restroom isn’t immediately available (or if people are turned away by a business), patients may face debilitating pain, extreme anxiety, and even traumatic bowel accidents.

Using the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s restroom database, enCappture developed the app’s interactive map to help users find a publicly available restroom near them anywhere in the U.S. Additionally, the map features a distinct label for establishments that have partnered with the Foundation. These establishments have already agreed to make their restrooms publicly available for IBD patients and others with urgent medical needs. For users looking for more information about IBD or restroom access, We Can’t Wait links users directly to the Foundation’s education and community resources.

The We Can’t Wait app is the centerpiece of the Foundation’s Open Restrooms Movement. In partnership with national healthcare advocacy organizations and major U.S. retailers and restaurants, the Foundation ultimately aims to solve the issue of restroom access. With more than 3,000 partner locations at launch (45,000 total), the Foundation is continuously adding more restrooms through partnerships and crowdsourcing.

Denise DiSano, President and CEO of enCappture, says “We were honored to work with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation team to get an app out there that really makes a huge difference in people’s lives. Because our platform has so many customizable features, we were able to quickly develop an app that’s tailored to the needs of IBD patients, and gives them increased peace of mind – all conveniently through an app on their phone.”

We Can’t Wait is available for free download from the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.
